Christmas in July!

Tomorrow I will be teaching the Easiest Quilted Stocking ever! I only wished that I would have learned how to make it two years ago, when I decided to stockings for the whole family. It is hard to imagine that June is over today and that we are heading into July already. I love July, our weather usually starts getting warmer around then and also, you have a lot of Christmas in July sales and ideas coming out.

So tomorrow at Gathering Fabrics I will be making this stocking, and a must have Sunglasses Holder ( because you never know...we just might see some sun soon). I always teach my Demos from noon till 2:00 so come by if you can. If you miss this one, I teach the same class again on Weds. July 13th from noon till 2:00. Plus, you don't have to worry about being late, I repeat the class every 10 minutes.

Hope to see you there!

Shop Hop almost over!

Well, it was so fun to be able to work at the Shop Hop this year.  Mostly I just stamped passports and gave everyone their free block. It was such a high for me, to hear how so many people loved the block ,that I had designed. It just did my heart good!

Of course I made a ton of NEW FRIENDS and that was the best part of it all! The ladies were so fun and friendly. It was neat to hear about all the other shops they had been to, and all the projects they were working on. Some of them, even signed up to start coming to my Demo Classes each month!

Almost a year ago, when my dear friend asked me to work in her shop, I remember thinking how little I really knew about quilting, and I feared that I just didn't know enough to work there or to teach classes there.I was also worried about my health. I had had pneumonia 6 times in the past year and really struggled with my energy. I didn't know if I could commit to teaching twice a month?

But I was starting to feel a bit better and remembered all the art classes I had taught in the past and how much I loved teaching ! So I have to say that I am proud of myself. I overcame the self doubt and just jumped right in. I have been teaching the Free Demo classes for almost 9 months now and I am loving it, the ladies are so accepting of me and seem to really enjoy my classes.

I realized as I came home from work today, that if you just believe in yourself and try...that in 9 months you could be somewhere, or doing something that you never thought you could do!  I am just so thankful that I am feeling good enough and healthy enough right now to be able to teach and work some. Yes, I am very blessed!

Shop Hop has begun!

Well, today was the first day of our Shop Hop and I got to work from 10:00 till 2:00, which I will do for the next three days also. My job today was to stamp the pass ports and give out the free block. It was so fun to see everyone's reaction to the block, they really seemed to like it, and many said it even looked cuter than the pictures. That made me feel like a million bucks!  Plus, it was nice if they had any questions about making them, then I was there to answer those too.

I love to see and meet all the new people. How fun to get to know a little bit about them and see their love for quilting too. I sorta wished that I would have joined in the Quilting Circles, earlier in my life. Quilter's are amazing people. They are compassionate, selfless and eager to give to others. Yes, I could have used more of those kind of people in my life as I grew up.
My fondest memories as a small child is of my Grandmother and Aunt, who were both quilters and wonderful, positive examples in my life. Both left this life a bit earlier than I would have liked, but still their memories and love for quilting has stayed with me. And when I started quilting again in my 40's... it felt like my Grandmother and Aunt were close to me again. I think they would be proud to know that I carried that tradition on. Their quilts are still a main decoration in my home and as I look at them ( especially now ) and realize all the work that went into them! They were all done by hand too! That is amazing and truly a gift to me and my family.

So today was wonderful, I got to make more new friends. I hope to yet see some of you come in the shop soon to  get your free Shop Hop block.

See ya then!
Lynn

P.S. Here is a look at half of the block, I don't know what I did to make that come up only half way? And of course my family isn't here to help me! I am a really not very computer savvy. I hope you can get the idea of what it looks like from here?
Sorry about that! :)

Or maybe what I should have said is this " Here is a part of what the block looks like, come into the shop to be able to see the whole thing! :)  Yes, that's better...now I don't feel so foolish!

Counting the days until Shop Hop!

Someone asked me at the shop today... if I am getting tired of creating projects from the SHOP HOP material for the store. Actually I am not, not sure why except I love the material this year mostly. There are a couple that are accent ones, that don't really float my boat. But all in all, I really like it and came up with a ton of ideas to create with it. My latest project was the Weekend Picnic Quilt, I realize it is a very simple quilt, but remember who you are talking to. I love quick and simple for a lot of my projects, guess I just don't have a lot of patience. I am a work in progress though.
I loved this quilt because it is perfect to throw in the car with your picnic basket and have lunch. It even has rock pockets in the back, to help you hold down your quilt on a blustery day (which could be any of the days we have had lately)!
You truly could make this quilt on Friday and be using it by Saturday!  I am working with a dear friend to get the pattern made up, will let you know when it is ready.

Weekend Picknic Quilt Pattern 002

It just wouldn't be a picnic without the ants.

If ants are such busy workers, how come they find time to go to all the picnics?

I am still here!

DSC01073

It has been almost a week (or more) since I have posted, sorry about that. I am going to have to get used to doing two blogs!
I won't post in this daily like my motivational blog but I will try to do it every week or more.
I just wanted to let you know what I am teaching my next Demo on in June, at the Quilt Shop in Woodinville.
We will learn out to make DRAWSTRING BAGS...I have been working on them for awhile, to find the easiest and fastest way to make them.
You know me, I just love something fast, quick and too cute! Sure wished I would have made some before I left on my trip to the Quilt Market,
I could have used them!

So the class will be Friday June 3rd from noon till 2:00
and then again on the next Weds June 8th from noon till 2:00, I sure hope you can come.

I also thought it would be neat IF YOU WANT TO ...to bring a paper lunch bag full of scraps and we will trade with each other. One of my friends
brought me a few little bags of her scraps and my granddaughter and I have been having soooooooooo much fun with them.
So if you want to participate then bring your bag full of scraps with you, to class on Friday or Weds and we will treat each other!
Sounds like fun, see you there!
